Funfair Photoshoot with Hannah

The photoshoot was with Hannah, who've I've photographed before. She runs a blog called The Mermaid Life, and got in touch because a local weigh-and-pay vintage market wanted her to write about them, so she needed some photos.

Pink + Blue: Photoshoot with Hannah (The Mermaid Life Blog)

It's been a little while since I did any portrait or fashion photography, so a few weeks ago I browsed Instagram looking for local models, bloggers, and other people who might be interested in setting up a photoshoot. I stumbled upon Hannah, the owner of The Mermaid Life Blog, and instantly wanted to collaborate.

How to... Organise a Photoshoot

I’ve been setting up photoshoots ever since I was 16 years old and studying photography at 6th form. With an entry-level DSLR in hand and a Model Mayhem account, I started contacting local models and meeting up with them (usually with a friend by my side) to take photographs.

Photoshoot with Charlotte

Today I met up with my good friend Charlotte Lipscombe, who has taken photographs of me and my boyfriend in the past (blog post here). She’s a member of the Parallel team and we’ve collaborated before, so when she agreed to model for me I was really excited!

Lomography 85mm Petzval Lens

A couple of weeks ago, the opportunity came up to purchase a lens I had wanted for a really long time at a massive discount (thanks to my job): the Lomography 85mm f2.2 Petzval lens. The newly designed Petzval lens was released in 2013, funded by a Kickstarter campaign, and is based on an Austrian lens which originally came out in 1840.

Peach Club

For Parallel's fifth issue, I wanted to interview a local riot grrrl punk feminist band, Peach Club. I met up with them on a chilly, icy day at a local park and got some photographs, before heading into a nearby diner to conduct the interview.
